Interactive Animation Projected on Paper Cubes
Dimensions Variable
Created in collaboration with Stephen Eichhorn and Tamas Kemenczy. To the viewer, this interactive installation consists of a desk with a wireless mouse on it that controls the screen element. The screen is made up of hundreds of boxes made out of graph paper that are mounted to the wall, and an image coming from a projector that is hidden in the desk. Also hidden is the computer that runs the flash animation that matches up with the boxes on the wall.
Untitled_01 was intended to bring up questions about systems of control and surveillance that have permeated our society. There are no markers or direct references to what is being represented, which was done to open up a broad relationship between physical and virtual surveillance. The viewer sits down at the desk, temporarily assuming the position of a person who operates or controls this fictional technology, and the open-ended nature of the installation allows the viewer to imagine about it's intended use.
